Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) is the industry skills council for the arts

 

If your’ve ever considered a career in any field, but aren’t really sure where to start, it’s usually good to start with your industry skills council. Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) is the industry skills council for the arts.

 

In fact, IBSA covers: Business Services, Cultural and Related Industries, Education, Financial Services, Information and Communication Technologies, and Printing and Graphic Arts – it’s the perfect place to start looking at the hundreds of ways you can have a career in events.

 

IBSA helps create the training packages and sets the standards for industries. Which means that if there’s a course in being a Stage Manager or a Graphic Designer, there’s a good chance they’d have had a good deal of input into creating and monitoring it.

 

IBSA has heaps of information about what you need to do to have a careers in the arts, performance or arts management. These are just some of careers you can look at:

Indigenous Youth Mobility Program (IYMP)


 

Do you identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent and live in a remote area?

 

If so you have the chance to apply for the Indigenous Youth Mobility Program (IYMP) to build up your skills to kick off an awesome career.

 

IYMP assists young Indigenous people from remote areas who choose to move away from home to gain qualifications and life skills to increase their chances of getting a job. The program helps young people train for their futures through supporting them to undertake study such as apprenticeships and university or VET courses. It is an awesome program that improves literacy and numeracy and fosters independent living for young Indigenous Australians.

 

You need to be between 16-24 and have family support to move to a new place to undertake your training.
