Getting ready for debut
Getting ready for J Rock is keeping students at Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School busy as they prepare for their debut.
The school will participate in the junior section of Rock Eisteddfod for the first time this year and students have joined with Tarro Public School to create a community initiative for the suburb.

Their performance is titled Steel City Rock and it explores the city of Newcastle, the Newcastle Earthquake and the rebuilding of the city since that event.

Students tell the story through dance and principal Bernadette Gibson said it was a good opportunity for students to try something new and work together to achieve it.

?They are working so hard to make this performance wonderful and it?s a fantastic opportunity for students who haven?t done anything like this before.

?Joining with Tarro Public School has been great because they are good to work with and the students get to interact with each other,? Ms Gibson said.

Year 3 student Annabelle Williams has learnt several skills she will use in the future.

?I?ve learnt new dance moves and now if I wanted to put a dance together I would be able to and it?s also a lot of fun, which makes it worthwhile,? Annabelle said.

The students will perform their piece at the Newcastle Civic Theatre in July.
